What's the point in working with a personal trainer when some days you can't even walk around the house?
I hear you.
Lose weight, I was told. You need to move more to help with pain levels. Which was fine to say, except it was the pain from my health problems that limited my activity. I was so worried about doing exercise and making my pain worse.
I had no help on how I could start to exercise in a way that was safe for someone like me.
I felt trapped in a cycle of wanting to move but not wanting to make my conditions worse.
There were some days I struggled to get out of bed.
There didn't seem to be anywhere I could find help with conditions like Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis, Obesity, chronic fatigue syndrome or hypermobility disorder.
Moving is painful. The joints are weakened through lack of being mobile. You gain weight because you eat to make yourself feel a little better about being in constant pain. The weight makes it worse so the mobility slows. The weight increases and the cycle starts over again.
Sound familiar?
I'm here to help discover what you CAN do. We can build on that together and adapt YOUR exercise to suit what you can manage on those bad pain/total fatigue days.
Being the best you can be takes courage. Courage to admit that you need to improve.
Lets face it, no one likes to acknowledge that!
It's a scary step to take alone. It can feel like an insurmountable goal. I understand.....I'm still doing it now and it's an ongoing process.
After many years of ill health, neglecting my myself and bumping through life from day to day, I decided enough was enough.
I wanted to be fitter in my 40s than I had ever been before. I wanted to do the normal daily things like walk my kids to school and not get breathless by climbing up the stairs.
I won't even mention the noises I used to make just by trying to pick stuff up from the floor.
I did it though.
I will show you how.
I mainly work with clients who have mobility issues, chronic pain and fatigue, those wanting to lose excess weight and those who are pre/post surgery.
I am here to help you achieve the best physical condition you can, on your terms, and at your pace.
This was no easy fix - at just over 23st 6lbs (149kgs), it felt like an enormous task.
My knees were called good and bad, not left and right. I was look at 40 in the rearview mirror. Hurtling towards mid-life.
As someone who was 'more than plus sized', simple tasks like getting dressed in the morning left me feeling like I'd run a marathon!
My body was battered and broken. I was worn out from putting everyone else first. Add to that the chronic pain from health conditions and just generally being in an uncomfortable life slump, I needed to take drastic action.
The truth was I was sick of feeling the way I was. I just wanted to feel better.
As a parent of 4 and also being self employed, I thought there was no way I could fit time in or myself.
But I did it. I began in small steps. Little consistent changes that meant slowly but surely, I was able to claim my mobility back.
I could get up out of bed without having to think about it first. I could put my socks on. I gained confidence in my legs being able to hold me upright.
But I had to do it on my own. I want to show others that they can build their mobility safely.
That's what I help my clients with: claiming back their mobility and their lives.
By using a combination of mobility exercises, resistance training and free weights, I can design a training programme that will help you to improve your overall health and fitness, suitable for your needs.
I have first hand experience of how everyday tasks can take so much effort. I have come to realise through my own personal achievement that a lifestyle change is possible at any age - wherever you are starting from. I will meet you there and be with you all the way, helping you to make small changes that are sustainable - it's never too late.
This is Personal Training specifically for working with chronic medical conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic pain and obesity. It's tailored to YOUR needs, either remotely online or in a friendly facility in Milton Keynes with a planned out but adaptable programme that you don't have to think about. We go at your pace, according to your body, on that day.
